There Was a Cute Girl in the Hero's Party, So I Tried Confessing to Her is getting a second season. Staff announced Saturday that production has been green-lit, with the main cast returning.
The television anime adapts Kairi's manga version of Suisei's light novel series, titled Yūsha Party ni Kawaii Ko ga Itanode, Kokuhaku Shite Mita in Japanese. It credits the manga as its original work, rather than Suisei's text story directly.
The returning cast includes:
- Kōhei Amasaki as Yōki
- Kana Hanazawa as Cecilia
- Ryōhei Kimura as Yūga
- Yūko Natsuyoshi as Mikana
- Toshiki Masuda as Duke
- Minami Tanaka as Seek
- Iori Noguchi as Happiness
- Ayumu Murase as Raven
The first season's staff included:
- Chief director Yasutaka Yamamoto (Medalist, Servant × Service)
- Director Tomonori Mine (Isekai Onsen Paradise) at Gekkō
- Series scriptwriter and supervisor Yukie Sugawara (Overlord, No Guns Life)
- Animation character designer Mina Ōsawa (The Strongest Sage With the Weakest Crest, Reincarnated as the Daughter of the Legendary Hero and the Queen of Spirits), adapting La-na's illustrations
- Music composers Satoru Kōsaki (BEASTARS, The Apothecary Diaries) and MONACA
- Producer Ryō Aizawa at Starry Cube
The anime premiered January 6 at 11:00 p.m. JST on Tokyo MX. It also aired on HBC, RKB Mainichi Broadcasting, AT-X, and BS11.
Crunchyroll streamed the anime worldwide outside Asia, with India and the Indian Subcontinent included.
The story follows Yōki, a man reincarnated into a fantasy world as the demon lord's underling, rather than a hero or the demon lord. When a hero's party attacks the demon lord's castle, he prepares to fight them.
Then he spots Cecilia, the party's priest, and falls in love at first sight.
Suisei launched the web novel on Shōsetsuka ni Narō, or “Let's Become Novelists,” in 2013. Futabasha began publishing the manga in print with illustrations by La-na in October 2014, and published its third volume in August 2015.
Kairi launched the manga adaptation on Futabasha's Gaugau Monster website in 2021.
