Food Wars! artist Shun Saeki concludes exclusive agreement with Shueisha
Shun Saeki, the artist behind Food Wars! Shokugeki no Soma, has ended a longstanding exclusive contract with Shueisha and is accepting inquiries about new projects.
In Sunday's announcement, Saeki thanked everyone who has supported them over the years. They welcomed inquiries about new work but said they cannot take on long-term projects.
Writer Yūto Tsukuda and artist Saeki began Food Wars! Shokugeki no Soma in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump in 2012. The manga finished in August 2019 after a three-chapter epilogue. Chef Yuki Morisaki is credited for cooperation on the series.
Viz Media released the manga's chapters weekly in English through its app and website and also publishes its collected volumes in English. Shueisha also offered the manga digitally in English through MANGA Plus.
Tsukuda and Saeki teamed up with writer NisiOisin for a one-shot manga published in Weekly Shonen Jump in September 2019. Tsukuda and Saeki published another one-shot in the magazine in May 2020.
The pair launched Tenmaku Cinema in Weekly Shonen Jump in April 2023. Its run ended in September of the same year, with a bonus chapter following in November. Viz Media publishes the manga digitally, and MANGA Plus also published it in English.
