Promise Me the Spotlight Reveals Cast and Creative Team, Sets TV Tokyo Broadcast

Bandai Namco Filmworks unveiled a teaser trailer, key visual, main cast, and main staff on Wednesday for Promise Me the Spotlight (Watashi o Center ni Suru to Chikaimasuka?). The television anime adapts Jun Wakatsuki's manga and will air on TV Tokyo and its six affiliate channels.

The main cast includes:

• Haruna Mikawa as Mizuki “Zukki” Natsuno, the famous idol group Melty Strawberry's least popular member. Hardworking but curt, she is known for her stern expression.
• Taihi Kimura as Kōichi Okuta, a high school student who is Mizuki's die-hard fan.
• Mai Kanno as Awayuki “A-chan” Shiroi, Melty Strawberry's undisputed center, whose “cunningly cute” gestures win fans' hearts.
• Yukari Anzai as Hatsune “Ha-chan” Fukuba, a polite, courteous Melty Strawberry member who always cares for her fellow members.

Bandai Namco Filmworks also unveiled character visuals for six other Melty Strawberry members:

• Saku “Saku-chan” Kageyama struggles with mornings and often blurts out surprising remarks while sleepy. She addresses the other members politely.
• Niko “Nikorin” Okamoto wears her hair in signature buns, supposedly inspired by takoyaki.
• Mio “Shiomin” Shiomi serves as the group's caring big sister figure.
• Mirin “Mii-chama” Satō calls herself “boku” and places a priority on using time efficiently.
• Minori “Minorin” Mochizuki also uses “boku” for herself and has a straightforward personality.
• Lala “Lala-pyon” Hoshino is both the youngest and tallest member, with a straightforward, energetic personality.

The main staff includes:

• Director Seiji Kishi at Team TillDawn, whose credits include two seasons of Assassination Classroom, Yuki Yuna Is a Hero, and Blue Orchestra.
• Series script supervisor Yūko Kakihara, whose credits include Aikatsu Stars!, Blue Orchestra, and Firefly Wedding.
• Character designer Kazuaki Morita, whose credits include two seasons of Assassination Classroom, Blue Orchestra, and three seasons of Classroom of the Elite.

Yuika performs the opening theme, “Nanimono demo nakatta Watashi dakara” (Because I Was No One).

Kodansha publishes the manga through its K MANGA service. Its description introduces Mizuki as the least popular idol in the nationally acclaimed Melty Strawberry, supported wholeheartedly by her unwavering fan, Koichi Okuta.

Although fans ordinarily have no contact with their idols beyond the stage, circumstances lead Mizuki to move into Koichi's home. She offers to marry him if he can make her the group's center.

Koichi pledges to do so, forming an unusual partnership with his idol as they work to take her career from obscurity to stardom.

Wakatsuki began the manga in Kodansha's Shonen Magazine Edge in 2022. It transferred to Kodansha's Magazine Pocket app after the magazine ceased publication in 2023. Kodansha released the sixth collected volume on July 9.
