TOMOO will sing "Fūmizekka," the ending theme for Hirayasumi. The television anime will debut in Japan in January 2027 on NHK General.

The adaptation of Keigo Shinzō's manga is a co-production with Shogakukan-Shueisha Productions Co., Ltd and Production +h. Its website announced the theme song artist on Monday, revealing the song's title as "Fūmizekka" (Delicious Flavor).

The Japanese broadcast begins on NHK General in January 2027, with an English release also announced by Viz Media for 2027.

The voice cast includes:

  • Yūma Uchida as Hiroto Ikuta
  • Mayu Takahashi as Natsumi Kobayashi
  • Rikako Aikawa as Hanae Wada
  • Daisuke Namikawa as Hideki Noguchi
  • Yōko Hikasa as Yomogi Tachibana
  • Yume Miyamoto as Akari Yokoyama
  • Yūichirō Umehara as Ryō Ishikawa
  • Japanese television announcer Yūko Naitō as the narrator

Kei Suezawa (Fate/Grand Order The Movie Divine Realm of the Round Table: Camelot - Wandering: Agateram, FLCL Progressive) is directing at Production +h. Naoyuki Asano (the 2022 Urusei Yatsura, Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken!, Mr. Osomatsu) is responsible for character designs. Mika Nishimura (Dead Dead Demon's Dededede Destruction, Typhoon Noruda) serves as art director, and Kaori Sawada (What Did You Eat Yesterday?, When Spring Comes) is composing the music.

Viz Media and Japan Society held the first episode's world premiere screening on October 7 at Japan Society's location in New York City.

Viz describes the story as a human drama about Hiroto Ikuta, a carefree 29-year-old who believes that taking life slowly can be a way to move forward. He has no girlfriend, full-time job, or plans for the future, and is thoroughly happy with his situation. His relaxed outlook can be difficult for others to understand. Surrounded by anxiety, confusion, and grief, he and the people around him do their best to navigate life.

An unexpected friendship with a grouchy elderly neighbor leads Hiroto to suddenly inherit her house, together with difficult emotions. His cousin Natsumi, an 18-year-old art student struggling with problems of her own, moves in and may challenge his easygoing way of life.

Shinzō began publishing Hirayasumi in Shogakukan's Weekly Big Comic Spirits in April 2021. Shogakukan released its 10th collected volume on April 30, and worldwide circulation has surpassed 1.1 million copies. The manga will conclude on November 16.

The manga's awards recognition includes:

  • A nomination for the 15th Manga Taisho awards in January 2022.
  • 18th place in the 2023 edition of Takarajimasha's Kono Manga ga Sugoi! (This Manga Is Amazing!) guidebook in December 2022.
  • A nomination for the 27th Annual Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize in February 2023.
  • A nomination for Best Continuing Manga Series at the 2nd American Manga Awards.

A live-action adaptation also premiered on NHK in November 2025.

Denpa has licensed Shinzō's Holiday Junction, a collection of seven one-shot manga. Shogakukan released the book in Japan in July 2016.
