The Bloodthirsty Bride Devours the King will receive a television anime in 2027. Its dark romantic fantasy follows a princess with vampiric powers whose arranged marriage is threatened by her attraction to her husband's blood.

A website launched on Monday announced the adaptation of The Bloodthirsty Bride Devours the King (Chi ni Ueta Hanayome wa Ō o Kurau), the manga written by Shiki and illustrated by Yū Shinonome.

Billed as a forbidden dark romantic fantasy, the story takes place during wartime. Kate, a maiden princess with vampiric powers, agrees to an arranged marriage with Luka, the realm's strongest king, to protect her homeland. During their first night together, the smell of his blood brings out her true nature and deeply unsettles their relationship. The story asks whether the destined pair's bond comes from their contract, their instincts, or love.

Mariko Iwazaki directs the anime at IMAGICA Infos and Imageworks Studio, with manga writer Shiki personally writing the scripts. The company en-dolphin is producing the project, and Kazuya Takahashi is credited with production supervision.

Taeko Miura handles sound direction at studio RD. Kujira Yumemi, whose credits include As a Reincarnated Aristocrat, I'll Use My Appraisal Skill and Chillin' in Another World With Level 2 Super Cheat Powers, is composing the music.

The original manga is available as individual chapters or collected volumes through several Japanese digital services, including honto. Chapter 29 and volume four were both released in October.
