Meta Taxi’s YouTube channel will debut the original short anime Wondering Mate on December 16. An English-subtitled teaser is now streaming.
The project marks Meta Taxi’s first original short anime and will run for 12 episodes, each three minutes long.
Yuno Nakahara voices Aco, while Nobuhiko Okamoto plays Bit. Inu Hirayama, part of the comedy sketch duo TentenHanten, makes his anime scriptwriting debut on the project.
Kodansha’s Shunsuke Sagawa and DNP’s Saki Nakao serve as producers.
Meta Taxi describes the setting as another world inhabited by avatars from discontinued apps. Aco, a high school girl avatar, dreams of becoming human. Bit has no interest in becoming human.
The story follows these two potentially changing avatars within a world that was never meant to change.
Meta Taxi streams conversations with guests about various topics, staged inside a virtual taxi traveling through Tokyo at night.
Hurray!, one of the studios that animated the film A Few Moments of Cheers, is handling planning and animation for Wondering Mate.
