Gunma-chan Season 1 Gets an English Dub on Crunchyroll

Crunchyroll added an English dub for the first season of Gunma-chan last Wednesday. The television anime is based on Gunma Prefecture's mascot.
Shakyra Dunn confirmed that she voices Buchi, Francoise, and Meemi's Mom, along with other characters, in the English dub.
The first season debuted in October 2021 on Tokyo MX, TV Kanagawa, TV Saitama, Chiba TV, Gunma TV, Tochigi TV, Sun TV, and KBS Kyoto. Its 39 episodes each run seven minutes and aired in groups of three, using a television broadcast format similar to Sazae-san. The season's last episode aired in December 2021.
Gunma Prefecture had previously outlined plans to stream the anime worldwide after its television run ended, offering Japanese audio with English, French, and Chinese subtitles. Crunchyroll is streaming the series.
The second season launched in April 2023, with the main cast and staff returning at animation studio Ascension.
Mitsuru Hongō, whose credits include Ascendance of a Bookworm, Outlaw Star, World Trigger, and Deltora Quest, directed and wrote the anime at Ascension, the studio behind Dino Girl Gauko. Karin Takahashi voiced the protagonist Gunma-chan, while Aya Uchida played his friend Aoma and Yui Ogura voiced his friend Mimi.
The current pony mascot debuted in 1994 as "Yūma-chan" for a sports competition. In 2008, it became Gunma Prefecture's Gunma-chan mascot, replacing a previous Gunma-chan design that the prefecture had used since the 1980s.
