The “Mixa Animation Diary 'Minami-ke' 20th Anniversary Tanabata Festival” announced the new anime in July 2024. Another event revealed the “Korekara” subtitle in November 2025. This will be the franchise's fifth TV anime and its first new TV series in at least 14 years, following the 2013 installment.
Sakuraba began the ongoing manga in Kodansha's Weekly Young Magazine in 2004. Kodansha released its 29th compiled volume on Friday.
Minami-ke previously inspired four TV anime in 2007, 2008, 2009, and 2013, plus three OVAs in 2009, 2012, and 2013.
The story follows Haruka, Kana, and Chiaki, the three sisters of the Minami household. Their lives are ordinary, but they have only one another to rely on.
Sakuraba's Kyo no Gononi manga also received an OVA in 2006, a TV anime in 2008, and a separate OVA in 2009.
