WEBTOON Entertainment announced an agreement on August 10 to acquire a 60% stake in RI Games Holdings. It plans multiple games based on established webtoons with global fanbases over the next four years.

WEBTOON Entertainment announced on August 10 that it signed a definitive agreement for a strategic investment in RI Games Holdings Inc. The deal will give WEBTOON a 60% stake in the game company when it closes.

Over the next four years, WEBTOON plans to develop and release multiple games adapted from established webtoon properties with global fanbases. RI Games Holdings runs two development studios, GrayGames and Offbeat.

The first release will be an action MMORPG based on Overgeared, developed by GrayGames. Nexon will publish it globally later this year, alongside the Overgeared anime’s October premiere.

RI Games Holdings’ current lineup includes adaptations of three popular webtoons:

  • Overgeared, with 1.3 billion global views.
  • Doom Breaker, with 590 million views.
  • Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint, with more than 3.05 billion views.

Offbeat is developing the Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint game, with Com2uS publishing it for PC and consoles in 2028. The webtoon also has an anime adaptation on the way.

The Overgeared anime unveiled its first key visual, a promotional video and additional cast members in July. Crunchyroll also confirmed plans to stream the series.

Official English editions of Doom Breaker and Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint are available on WEBTOON. Readers can find Overgeared on Tapas.

J.C. Staff is producing the Overgeared anime, with Ayako Kōno directing.
