Scholastic announced Wednesday that its Graphix imprint will publish five new titles with Tezuka Productions. Each will reimagine a manga by Osamu Tezuka.
The projects will draw from:
- Atomcat/Astro Cat
- Princess Knight
- The Three-eyed One
- Triton of the Sea
- Zero Man
Samuel Sattin will return as writer after his work on Unico: Awakening (Unico: Mezame no Ohanashi). He will collaborate with Japanese artists who will illustrate the new projects.
Scholastic launched Unico: Awakening, a new series adapting Tezuka’s Unico, on August 6, 2024. The artist duo Gurihiru provided the illustrations, while Sattin wrote the story.
The series will conclude with volume eight. Scholastic shipped its third volume on July 7.
In November 2024, Scholastic removed every copy of Unico: Awakening sold at its Book Fairs in North Carolina’s Richmond County Schools district. The removal followed a complaint from the mother of a first-grade student at Mineral Springs Elementary.
