Aniplex confirmed that Fate/strange Fake will receive a new season. The announcement follows a “To be continued” tease released after episode 13 aired in March.

Aniplex confirmed in a video on Saturday that the Fate/strange Fake television anime will return for a new season. The company first revealed the news during the anime’s Anime NYC panel on Friday.

A video released after the anime’s 13th episode aired in March had teased the continuation with the message “To be continued.”

The series adapts Ryohgo Narita’s Fate/strange Fake spinoff story. Crunchyroll streams it across North America, Central America, South America, Europe, Africa, Oceania, the Middle East, and CIS.

The first season premiered January 3 at 11:30 p.m. on Tokyo MX, BS11, Gunma TV, and Tochigi TV. Its 90-minute opening broadcast paired the Fate/strange Fake -Whispers of Dawn- special with the main television series’ first episode.

The anime had previously been scheduled to premiere in 2025. Its first episode reached audiences through several earlier releases:

  • November 2024: The English-subtitled episode debuted at the “Fate 20th Anniversary Showcase” event.
  • December 2024: Crunchyroll released the Japanese-dubbed version.
  • January 2026: Crunchyroll began streaming the English dub.

The television anime’s staff included:

  • Directors: Shun Enokido and Takahito Sakazume, who also directed Fate/strange Fake -Whispers of Dawn-, at A-1 Pictures. Both worked on Fate/Grand Order commercials. Enokido directed Flip Flappers episodes, while Sakazume directed Fate/Apocrypha episodes.
  • Scripts: Daisuke Daitō, whose credits include Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045 and More Than a Married Couple, But Not Lovers.
  • Character design and chief animation direction: Yūkei Yamada, whose credits include Fate/Apocrypha.
  • Music: Hiroyuki Sawano, whose credits include Attack on Titan and Mobile Suit Gundam UC.

SawanoHiroyuki[nZk]:Jean-Ken Johnny & TAKUMA performed “Provant,” the opening theme.

The earlier Fate/strange Fake -Whispers of Dawn- special premiered in Japan in July 2023. Crunchyroll offers the special with an English dub.

Narita, the creator of Baccano! and Durarara!!, originally published Fake/states night as an April Fool’s joke on April 1, 2008. He later expanded it into a Fate/strange Fake supplement for Type-Moon Ace Vol. 2 magazine.

The full light novel series launched in January 2015 with illustrations by Shizuki Morii. Kadokawa’s Dengeki Bunko imprint released volume nine in March 2024. The 10th and final volume will ship this summer.

Morii has also been drawing a manga adaptation alongside the novels.

Yen Press sponsors ANN’s Anime NYC 2026 coverage. Its offerings include light novels, manga, and manhwa, with more information available at Booth #1701 or YenPress.com.
