Ize Press Adds Whale Star and Three Solo Leveling Projects

Ize Press announced four new titles at Yen Press’ industry panel at Anime NYC. The lineup includes Whale Star: The Gyeongseong Mermaid and three projects expanding its Solo Leveling catalog.

The publisher will share release dates, pricing, and further details later.

Yoonhee Na’s Whale Star: The Gyeongseong Mermaid is a historical romance set in Korea in 1926, during Japanese colonial rule. It follows Sooah, a young maid who finds wounded independence fighter Uihyeon as he flees Japanese authorities and becomes involved with him.

The acclaimed six-volume series originally ran on WEBTOON, where its English version is available. It has reached more than 13 million readers, won the 2021 Korea Content Grand Prize Presidential Award, and has a live-action adaptation in development.

Ize Press’ Spanish-language Solo Leveling releases will span three formats:

• Comic editions for the United States and Canada.
• Novel editions for the United States and Canada.
• Audiobooks available worldwide.

The publisher also licensed Daul’s Solo Leveling: Ragnarok sequel novels. The story follows Sooho Sung, the son of original protagonist Jinwoo Sung, as he enters the world of hunters and monsters.

The English web novel is available on Tapas. Ize Press began publishing the Solo Leveling: Ragnarok comic in print in July.

Solo Leveling: The Board Game is a cooperative tactical tabletop game for one to four players. It features characters, monsters, and bosses from the series.

Ize Press will offer Standard and Ultimate editions. The Ultimate edition includes extra collectibles, among them a Beru plushie.
