Manga Mirai Sets December 15 Shutdown, Offers Transfers to MangaPlaza
Users must move their account information and purchased titles by September 30.

Manga Mirai will end service on December 15 (PT). Users can transfer their information and purchases to NTT Solmare’s MangaPlaza, with refunds potentially available in certain cases.
Digital manga service MANGA MIRAI announced Wednesday that it will shut down on December 15 (PT). Its website published instructions for transferring user information and purchased titles to NTT Solmare’s MangaPlaza.
Users must complete the transfer by September 30. Manga Mirai said users may qualify for a refund if:
- MangaPlaza lacks licenses for titles they purchased through Manga Mirai.
- They are younger than MangaPlaza’s minimum age of 18.
- They choose not to transfer their account information to MangaPlaza.
Media Do, NTT Docomo, Akatsuki Group, and MyAnimeList jointly developed the service and launched it in the United States in March 2025.
Users could buy individual manga volumes, with some titles also available by chapter. Purchases were readable on the service’s website or its dedicated iOS and Android reader app.
The platform aimed to help anime and manga fans explore anime series inspired by manga. It also offered original manga and English editions of previously untranslated titles to help readers discover new stories.
The partners divided responsibilities as follows:
- NTT Docomo served as MANGA MIRAI’s service provider.
- MyAnimeList supported marketing, and its website integrated MANGA MIRAI’s system.
- Akatsuki Group handled system development, maintenance, service operations, and marketing.
- Media Do worked with publishers and translation companies to acquire new manga series for the platform.
Media Do acquired MyAnimeList in 2019. In March 2025, shortly after Manga Mirai launched, it announced the sale of all its MyAnimeList shares to Gaudiy, a Tokyo-based Web3 and AI company.
