Chiikawa Joins Amasian TV With 20 Free Episodes in the U.S.
The platform also plans to add Hyakushō Kizoku seasons 2 and 3 and Gunma-chan in the coming months.
Amasian TV now offers 20 Chiikawa episodes on demand in the United States, with Japanese audio and English subtitles. Viewers can watch free without a subscription.
ODK Media’s North American streaming service Amasian TV announced Thursday that it has added 20 episodes of Nagano’s Chiikawa manga adaptation in the United States. The episodes are free on demand, with Japanese audio and English subtitles, and require no subscription.
The company also plans to stream seasons 2 and 3 of Hyakushō Kizoku and the Gunma-chan anime in the coming months. Japan International Broadcasting is partnering on all these streams.
Chiikawa’s cast includes:
- Child actress Haruka Aoki, who played Liza in Mighty Express’s Japanese dub, as Chiikawa, her first television anime voice role.
- Child actor Makoto Tanaka (Okko’s Inn) as Hachiware.
- Ari Ozawa as Usagi.
The anime debuted in April 2022, initially airing Fridays during Fuji TV’s morning news and entertainment show Mezamashi Terebi. In April 2023, it expanded to Tuesdays and Fridays. Sentai Filmworks licensed the series and streams it with English subtitles on HIDIVE.
A new Chiikawa series premiered in July 2025. The previous series stopped regularly airing new episodes in April 2025, after which older episodes considered “pivotal” were rebroadcast.
Chiikawa the Movie: The Secret of Mermaid Island (Eiga Chiikawa: Ningyo no Shima no Himitsu) opened in Japan on July 24. It is the first anime film based on Nagano’s Chiikawa manga.
Nagano began serializing the manga on X, then known as Twitter, in January 2020 under the title Nanka Chiisakute Kawaii Yatsu.
Amasian TV offers free streaming in North America, with content including anime, Korean dramas, Chinese films, Asian news, sports, and documentaries. It began streaming Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood for free in March.
