Publang Unveils Three BL Manhwa and Two Web Novels at Anime NYC
Print plans include the first two volumes of each manhwa, while both novels will receive web serialization.
Publang announced five upcoming BL releases at its Saturday Anime NYC panel, including manhwa and novel versions of The Hunter's Gonna Lay Low. Further release details have yet to be announced.
BL-focused publisher Publang announced five upcoming titles during its Anime NYC panel on Saturday. The lineup comprises three manhwa and two web novels, with further release details still to come.
The announced titles are:
- Define the Relationship — manhwa
- The Hunter's Gonna Lay Low — manhwa
- PASSION — manhwa
- Healer — web novel
- The Hunter's Gonna Lay Low — web novel
Publang plans to publish the first two volumes of Define the Relationship in print. Written by Flona and illustrated by Chada, the manhwa is available on Lezhin.
The publisher will release both the original novel and the manhwa adaptation of The Hunter's Gonna Lay Low. Author 103 wrote the novel, which Publang will serialize online.
The manhwa features art by ligong and adaptation by MAGMA, and is available on Manta. Publang plans to publish its first two volumes in print.
Publang will also publish the first two volumes of the PASSION manhwa. Available on Tappytoon, it is written by Yuuji, with art by GangJak and adaptation by Hound.
Healer, a web novel written by Mechanist, will receive web serialization through Publang.
The publisher said these releases expand its practice of licensing manhwa adaptations alongside their original novels, following Payback, Define the Relationship, and PASSION.
Publang started as a translation agency before becoming a publisher. Its stated mission centers on translations that preserve the original faithfully and resonate in context.
The company previously outlined two guiding principles behind its editorial philosophy, “The Art of Localization”:
