J-Novel Club publishes both the novels and their manga adaptation in English. It describes the story as a “slow-life fantasy” about Dias, who returns home after decades of war. Celebrated as a hero, he receives a domain as his reward, only to find empty plains with zero inhabitants.
Having known only battle, Dias has no idea how to survive, much less turn endless grassland into a thriving, prosperous territory. A horned girl named Alna is about to reveal that the plains hold more than he realizes.
Fuurou started serializing the story on Shōsetsuka ni Narō on January 20, 2018. Earth Star Novel publishes the novels with Kinta’s illustrations. Yumbo, also credited in the anime’s staff listing, draws the manga adaptation, which has 14 volumes so far. The franchise has over two million copies in circulation.
