Murciélago Gets January 2027 TV Premiere and Exclusive HIDIVE Streaming

HIDIVE announced at Anime NYC on Saturday that the anime adaptation of Kana Yoshimura’s Murciélago manga will premiere in January 2027. It confirmed the television format and released a super teaser promotional video.

The service will stream the series exclusively in the U.S., Canada, U.K., Australia, and New Zealand.

The anime’s staff includes:

• Director: Matsuo Asami (The Villainess Is Adored by the Prince of the Neighbor Kingdom; episode director on SHIBOYUGI: Playing Death Games to Put Food on the Table), at Satelight and Staple Entertainment.
• Chief director and series composition: Takashi Naoya (Am I Actually the Strongest?).
• Character design: Kiyoshi Tateishi.
• Music: Masanori Akita and Yūichi Tsuchiya.

HIDIVE’s synopsis centers on fighting evil with evil. Former death-row prisoner Kuroko Koumori becomes a state-sanctioned executioner through exceptional legal measures.

Her partner and watchdog, Hinako Tozakura, possesses unmatched driving skills. Together, the formidable pair confronts society’s hidden darkness as a succession of heinous crimes comes their way.

HIDIVE presents the buddy action story as wildly unorthodox, addictive in its insanity, and dangerously intoxicating.

Yoshimura began the ongoing manga in Square Enix’s Young Gangan magazine in 2013. Square Enix released its 29th collected volume on July 24.

Yen Press publishes the original Murciélago manga in English and will release volume 27 on September 22. The series has 2.3 million copies in circulation worldwide.

Yoshimura launched the spinoff Murciélago Byproduct Araña on Square Enix’s Manga UP! app in January 2018. It follows Reiko Kuchiba and concluded in June 2020.

Yen Press sponsors ANN’s Anime NYC 2026 coverage. The publisher offers light novels, manga, and manhwa, with more information available at Booth #1701 or YenPress.com.
