One Piece Reveals God Valley Film for 2027 and BAAD for 2029

Sunday's One Piece Day '26 livestream announced two new anime films. ONE PIECE FILM GOD VALLEY will reach theaters in summer 2027, followed by ONE PIECE FILM BAAD in 2029.

The original manga's “God Valley Incident” arc depicts a major battle on God Valley island 38 years earlier. Participants include the Rocks Pirates, Roger Pirates, Marines and world nobles, alongside other factions.

The television anime's Elbaph arc premiered in Japan on April 5. Crunchyroll streams it.

In October 2025, Toei Animation and One Piece anime producer Ryūta Koike announced a limit of 26 episodes annually, beginning in 2026.

After the Egghead arc ended last year, production paused for three months, from January through March 2026. The anime resumed in April 2026 with Elbaph, beginning the first of two cours, each covering a quarter of a year.

Toei Animation said the schedule would let episodes include more manga content and better reflect its tempo and pacing while retaining animation's distinct storytelling possibilities.

Since its 1999 premiere, the anime has generally aired most weeks, with few exceptions. Its pacing has nevertheless slowed substantially over the years.

The anime's Egghead arc began in January 2024. In mid-October 2024, the franchise announced a break to recharge, with the arc scheduled to resume in April 2025.

Egghead Part 2 opened on Fuji TV on April 5, 2025, with episode 1,123 overall. A recap of Egghead Part 1 aired alongside it.

The second installment, episode 1,124 overall, followed on April 6, 2025. It introduced the new 11:15 p.m. JST timeslot, equivalent to 10:15 a.m. EDT.

During the Egghead hiatus, One Piece Log: Fish-Man Island Saga aired in its place. This 21-episode condensed version of the anime's Fish-Man Island arc featured reshot scenes, revised artwork and other improvements.
