The staff of Reawaken Man: The Red announced Wednesday that the film will reach South Korean theaters on September 30. The live-action movie adapts the webtoon Reawakened Man.
Jong-yeol Baek directs the film. It follows Hwan Seok, an ordinary job seeker whose sudden ability to resurrect after death draws him into a series of events.
The cast includes:
- Gyo-hwan Koo as Hwan Seok.
- Seung-ho Shin as Black, a mysterious figure who discovers Hwan Seok’s power and starts pursuing him.
- Ki-young Kang as Young-ha, Hwan Seok’s close friend.
- Si-ah Kim as Ye-rin, Hwan Seok’s younger sister.
In the original webtoon, Hwan Seok cannot ignore injustice. When he intervenes against two men targeting his next-door neighbor, Yerin, they murder him. He returns to life three days later.
Discovering that he can revive three days after dying, Seok resolves to save Yerin. He soon finds himself caught in a larger, more sinister scheme than he expected.
Written by Yongtaek Chae and illustrated by Jaehan Kim, Reawakened Man ran on Naver Webtoon from 2016 to 2019. Its English edition is available on WEBTOON.
