Odex announced Tuesday that Detective Conan: Fallen Angel of the Highway (Detective Conan: Highway no Datenshi) will reach the Philippines on September 5. The franchise’s 29th film will begin with a fan screening at SM Mall of Asia that includes film merchandise.
General screenings will begin on September 9.
The film opened in Japan on April 10 and topped the Japanese box office in its debut. Its first three days brought 2,318,009 ticket sales and 3,502,137,800 yen (about US$21.9 million), setting a franchise opening-weekend record.
By July 19, its total earnings reached 13,608,566,400 yen (about US$83.06 million). It became the franchise’s fourth consecutive film to exceed 10 billion yen, a streak that began with 2023’s Detective Conan: Black Iron Submarine (Detective Conan: Kurogane no Submarine).
The story focuses on Chihaya Hagiwara, who leads the Kanagawa Prefectural Police’s motorcycle division. Miyuki Sawashiro takes over the role from the late Atsuko Tanaka.
Other characters appearing in the film include:
- Jugo Yokomizo, a Kanagawa inspector.
- Masumi Sera, a teenage detective.
- Kenji Hagiwara, Chihaya’s late younger brother.
- Jinpei Matsuda, Kenji’s Police Academy classmate.
The preceding film, Detective Conan: One-eyed Flashback (Meitantei Conan: Sekigan no Flashback), hinted at Chihaya’s appearance in its ending.
The new film’s staff includes:
- Director Takahiro Hasui, whose credits include Detective Conan: Black Iron Submarine.
- Scriptwriter Takahiro Ōkura, whose credits include Detective Conan: The Crimson Love Letter.
- Composer Yūgo Kanno, whose credits include Detective Conan: One-eyed Flashback.
Detective Conan: One-eyed Flashback debuted at No. 1 in Japan after opening on April 18, 2025. In June 2025, it ranked as Japan’s 19th highest-grossing film of all time.
It now holds 20th place, with earnings of 14.74 billion yen (about US$95.1 million).
Katsuya Shigehara directed One-eyed Flashback after serving as a unit director on Detective Conan: Black Iron Submarine. Takeharu Sakurai, who has written various Detective Conan films, handled its script.
