Bloodstained: The Scarlet Engagement Moves to 2027 Release
ArtPlay co-founder Koji Igarashi says development has reached its final stages.

ArtPlay and 505 Games have postponed Bloodstained: The Scarlet Engagement to 2027. The game was previously scheduled for release this year on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
ArtPlay and 505 Games announced Wednesday on the official Bloodstained: The Scarlet Engagement website that the game will now launch in 2027.
ArtPlay co-founder Koji Igarashi confirmed the delay in a video message, saying the game has entered its final stages of development. Staff also released new screenshots.
The game was originally announced for release this year on:
- PlayStation 5
- Xbox Series X|S
- PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store
ArtPlay and 505 Games describe a haunting setting years before Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night. Leo and the fearless Black Wolves prepare to storm the cursed Ethereal Castle and confront a growing darkness.
Led by Lord Theodore, the warriors fight horrific beasts and the malevolent Demon Lord Elias in a brutal struggle for humanity’s survival.
Earlier games in the series launched as follows:
- Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night arrived on PlayStation 4, Windows, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox One in June 2019.
- Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon debuted on Nintendo 3DS, Nintendo Switch, PS4, PlayStation Vita, and Windows in May 2018, followed by Xbox One in June 2018.
- Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon 2 launched on PS4, Switch, Xbox One, and PC through Steam in July 2020.
ArtPlay creative director SHUTARO (Shutaro Iida), who also led The Scarlet Engagement’s development, died of pancreatic cancer on February 10. Igarashi said then that the team would work to finish a game worthy of SHUTARO’s vision and name.
