Shochiku's synopsis places the story in 1374, during the upheaval of the prolonged conflict between the Northern and Southern Courts. Oniyasha is born into a family of sarugaku theater performers.
He lives under a quiet cloud of gloom, troubled by one persistent question: what makes people dance? Seeing a dance he considers good sets his life on a new course.
The story follows this beautiful young boy as he grows toward becoming Zeami, the figure who would help shape Noh.
Mihara began the manga in Kodansha's Morning magazine in March 2021 and concluded it in October 2022. Kodansha collected the series in six volumes. Kodansha USA Publishing licensed the manga and released all six volumes digitally.
