sooncha says Yang Can't Live Alone will move to an unnamed company for a revised print and digital edition in Japan. The creator announced the move after publication on Manga UP! ended August 13.

Creator sooncha announced on X/Twitter on Friday that they had withdrawn the copyright for Yang Can't Live Alone (Yang-senpai wa Hitori de Ikiteikenai) from Square Enix. The manga will move to another company following the end of its publication on Manga UP! on August 13.

The new company, which sooncha has not named, will publish a revised edition in Japan in print and digitally. The creator plans to share further details later.

Square Enix will stop publishing physical copies in Japan, although stores will continue selling their remaining stock. The company's Japanese digital distribution will end August 31 at 11:59 p.m. JST.

Manga UP! Global will also end English digital distribution on August 31 at 11:59 p.m. JST. Readers who bought chapters will retain access to them.

According to sooncha, translated editions will remain on sale until their respective publishing agreements expire. At press time, the manga's page on Square Enix Manga & Books' website displayed an error.

In an update, a Square Enix Manga & Books spokesperson told ANN that the company was reviewing the situation with all relevant parties. The spokesperson said it would share an update if and when it could comment.

sooncha previously attributed the manga's cancellation to a breakdown in their relationship with Manga UP! Its final installment on the service was the third part of chapter 15, released August 13.

At that time, sooncha also said they were discussing Square Enix's withdrawal of the copyright with the editorial department.

The third collected volume shipped August 6. However, sooncha had asked readers who felt uncomfortable to cancel their pre-orders for it.

Manga UP! Global published the manga digitally in English. Square Enix Manga & Books also licensed it and initially announced September 15 as the release date for its first English volume.

The publisher's synopsis centers on a serious college student and a friendly Chinese exchange student who find answers to their romantic troubles through each other.

Yuu works hard at college, but men often find her serious manner intimidating. She wonders whether she must change her strong-willed personality to become someone's first choice in love.

After Yuu helps Yang, a Chinese exchange student with a puppy-like personality, out of a difficult situation, he asks her to become his bodyguard. Their arrangement starts as a professional relationship, but deeper feelings soon develop.

sooncha began the series on Manga UP! in December 2024.
