Pokémon Tales: The Misadventures of Sirfetch'd and Pichu will stream exclusively on Disney+ in 2027 and air on Disney XD. Pokémon and Aardman also released a teaser trailer.

Disney+ will exclusively stream Pokémon Tales: The Misadventures of Sirfetch'd and Pichu beginning in 2027, with Disney XD handling its television debut. The Pokémon franchise’s official website announced the plans during Friday’s PokémonXP event.

The stop-motion series is a collaboration between Pokémon and independent studio Aardman, known for Wallace & Gromit and Shaun the Sheep. Pokémon and Aardman released a teaser trailer through their official YouTube channels.

The release falls under a global distribution agreement between Disney+ and The Pokémon Company International. That agreement also covers Pokémon the Series: The Beginning, the anime’s original Indigo League season.

Its first 27 episodes arrived on Disney+ on August 7. The season has also started airing on Disney XD.

Aardman cofounder and creative director Peter Lord said the new series takes place in a region with particular personal significance to the studio. The teaser features Wooloo and Sirfetch’d, both introduced in Pokémon Sword/Shield, whose Galar region draws on the U.K.

The series’ creative team includes:

  • Tom Parkinson as director.
  • Natalie McKay as creative director.
  • James Young as creative lead.

Another Pokémon stop-motion series, Pokémon Concierge, launched on Netflix with four episodes in December 2023. More episodes premiered in September 2025. Stop-motion production company dwarf studios, whose work includes Rilakkuma and Kaoru, has animated all episodes released so far.

The Pokémon: Horizons anime began airing in Japan in April 2023 with a one-hour premiere special. It airs there on Fridays at 6:55 p.m. JST.

The Pokémon Company initially announced a February 2024 U.S. Netflix launch, but the series arrived in March 2024 instead.

Netflix’s subsequent season releases include:

  • Pokémon Horizons: The Series—The Search for Laqua, the second season, in February 2025.
  • Pokémon Horizons: Season 3—Rising Hope on January 6.
