The first season launched in July 2023 and ran for 12 episodes. Netflix began streaming it worldwide that same month.
The eighth novel volume shipped in March 2024 with a Blu-ray Disc containing the original anime “Shiawase no Katachi” (“The Shape of Happiness”). The OVA also streamed simultaneously worldwide through Netflix and other services in November 2024, on Japan’s “Good Couples Day.”
Agitogi and Tsukioka began the novel series in January 2019. Yen Press licenses the light novels.
Yen Press describes Miyo as a noblewoman raised by an abusive stepmother and married off to Kiyoka, a soldier considered heartless. His previous fiancées all fled within three days of their engagements.
With nowhere to return, Miyo gradually opens her heart to her cold, pale husband-to-be despite their difficult first meeting. Their relationship could offer her a chance at true love and happiness.
Rito Kohsaka’s manga adaptation launched on Square Enix’s Gangan Online website in December 2018. Square Enix Manga & Books publishes it in English in print and digitally.
A live-action film adapting the novels opened in Japan in March 2023 and topped its opening weekend. During its first three days, it sold 479,700 tickets and earned 654 million yen, approximately US$4.97 million.
