Amyū announced Sunday on X, formerly Twitter, that Kono Oto Tomare!: Sounds of Life will end in three chapters. That count includes the chapter in Shueisha’s Jump SQ. magazine issue shipping September 4.
The manga follows Takezō, the sole remaining member of a club devoted to the koto, a traditional Japanese string instrument. The club faces closure unless he recruits new members.
While Takezō sits alone in the club room one day, a student bursts in and demands to join. He is Chika Kudō, a delinquent who frightens even delinquent upperclassmen from other schools.
Amyū began the manga in Shueisha’s Jump SQ. in August 2012. Shueisha released its 34th collected volume on June 4.
A television anime adaptation debuted in April 2019 on these channels:
- Tokyo MX
- BS11
- WOWOW
The anime ran for two cours, or two quarters of a year. The manga also received a stage adaptation that ran from August to September 2019.
