The Long Summer of August 31 Gets SHAFT TV Anime and Live-Action Series
Ikkado Ito's manga runs in Kodansha's Morning, with physical editions from Seven Seas and digital releases on K MANGA.

Ikkado Ito's The Long Summer of August 31 will receive a television anime from SHAFT and a live-action series. The manga's official X account announced both adaptations on Monday.
The official X (formerly Twitter) account for Ikkado Ito's The Long Summer of August 31 (August 31 no Long Summer) announced two adaptations on Monday. SHAFT will produce a television anime, while the manga will also receive a live-action series.
The account unveiled an ultra teaser visual for the anime. Ito also drew an illustration announcing both adaptations.
Seven Seas Entertainment publishes the manga physically, while Kodansha's K MANGA service releases it digitally.
The story follows high schoolers Suzuki Takaya and Takagi Kana, who keep reliving August 31. Only they remember each repeated day.
The suspected cause is Suzuki's unfinished summer mission: finding a girlfriend and losing his virginity, presented as the ultimate teenage goal. Seven Seas describes the time-loop comedy as both funny and heartfelt.
Ito began the manga in Kodansha's Morning magazine in 2023. Kodansha released its 13th compiled volume on August 21, and Seven Seas published the sixth physical volume on August 25.
Ito's earlier manga, I'm Not Meat: Get Your Filthy Paws Off Me! (Boku wa Oniku janai), debuted in Shogakukan's Monthly Spirits in July 2020. Shogakukan released its third and final compiled volume in December 2021.
Seven Seas Entertainment licensed that manga for its Ghost Ship imprint and published the third and final English volume in May 2023.
