Yuzu Performs Theme Song for Live-Action High School Family Film

The official website for the live-action adaptation of Ryō Nakama's High School Family: Kokosei Kazoku (Kōkōsei Kazoku) released a trailer on Wednesday. It announces Yuzu as the theme song artist and previews “Kore mo Seishun da” (This is Also Youth).

Staff also unveiled a new poster. The film opens in Japan on January 8, following a delay from its originally scheduled fall 2026 release.

The cast includes:

• Yuno Nagao (live-action Golden Kamuy, 2024's Black Jack) as younger sister Haruka.
• Shingo Katori (Lil' Red Riding Hood Cha-Cha, Friends: Mononoke Shima no Naki) as father Ichiro.
• Jun Saitō (Labyrinth, live-action Let's Go Karaoke!, Trillion Game) as eldest son Kōtarō.
• Riisa Naka (The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, live-action Cells at Work!) as mother Shizuka.

Tôichirô Rutô directs the film. His credits include the live-action Violence Action, G Men, and Ossan's Love.

Europe Kikaku's Makoto Ueda wrote the screenplay. His credits include The Tatami Galaxy, Night is Short, Walk On Girl, and Penguin Highway.

Viz Media and MANGA Plus publish the manga digitally in English. MANGA Plus describes Kotaro entering his first high school year in spring, eagerly anticipating a wonderful school life—until his family crushes those dreams.

The synopsis presents the latest series from Isobe Isobee Monogatari ~ Ukiyo wa Tsuraiyo creator Ryō Nakama as a comedy blending family and school-life gags. It promises a familiar yet fresh approach, playfully suggesting this new comedy genre will earn passing marks.

Nakama began the manga in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump in September 2020 and concluded it in the same magazine in February 2023. Shueisha released its 11th and final collected volume in July 2023. Viz Media also publishes collected volumes digitally.

Nakama's earlier manga, Isobe Isobee Monogatari Ukiyo wa Tsurai yo, ran in Weekly Shonen Jump from October 2013 to October 2017. It inspired two net anime series and a stage play.
