Toei announced an October 11 premiere for Dragon Ball Super: Beerus and released a trailer and visual. MEGATERA・ZERO performs the opening theme, while VK Blanka performs the ending.

Toei announced Wednesday that Dragon Ball Super: Beerus will premiere on October 11. The company also released a new “Super Surge” trailer and visual, and revealed the theme song artists.

Fuji TV and its affiliates will air the series starting October 11 at 11:15 p.m. (10:15 a.m. EDT). The first episode will screen early at the Dragon Ball Super: Beerus Special Panel at New York Comic Con on October 8.

The trailer previews both theme songs: the opening, “ONOGAMI,” performed by MEGATERA・ZERO, and the ending, “Kan Peki No Peki,” performed by VK Blanka.

Kōichi Yamadera will return as Beerus. The anime’s staff includes:

  • Composition and Direction Arrangement: Matsuto Seya
  • Animation Character Design & General Animation Director: Tadayoshi Yamamuro
  • Editing: Eichi Nishimura
  • Compositing Director: Yōsuke Motoki
  • Music: Norihito Sumitomo

Akio Iyoku said work began a few years ago. He described the project as an “enhanced” edition of Dragon Ball Super, with a reconstructed story, new cuts and redrawn footage.

According to the official announcement, the project extensively adds new cuts, revises existing scenes and re-renders all footage. It also features newly recorded dubbing, additional music and sound effects, and a complete reconstruction of the story.

The announcement says the ENHANCED edition uses the latest visual techniques to increase impact and immersion throughout, particularly during battles. It describes the broadcast edition as delivering highly satisfying quality while more accurately expressing Akira Toriyama’s original concept and worldbuilding.

The staff said Dragon Ball Super would begin anew as Dragon Ball Super: Beerus in fall 2026.

The story takes place several years after the fierce battle against Majin Buu, as Earth enjoys a brief return to peace. Meanwhile, Beerus, the God of Destruction, wakes from a long, deep sleep.

Kai and Supreme Kai fear his awakening, knowing he has enough power to destroy entire planets. After hearing rumors about a Saiyan who defeated Frieza, Beerus suddenly appears before Goku.

Earth faces grave danger as Beerus, the universe’s strongest being, targets it. Goku and his allies enter an Earth-shattering cosmic battle against the God of Destruction, with the conflict set to shake the entire universe.

Dragon Ball Super began in July 2015 and ran for 131 episodes through March 2018. Funimation and Crunchyroll streamed it during its broadcast, and Funimation released it on home video.

Funimation added the English dub to its streaming service in December 2016. The dub then debuted on Adult Swim’s Toonami block in January 2017.
