Ha-young Will Not Return for The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call Season 2
Netflix confirmed her departure on September 1 after controversy over her great-grandfather's collaboration with Japanese colonial authorities.

Ha-young has left The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call season 2 following controversy over her family history. She played nurse Jang-mi Cheon in the first season.
Actress Ha-young will not return for season 2 of the webtoon-based live-action series The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call. Her departure follows controversy over allegations about her great-grandfather's activities during Japan's colonial rule.
Korean newspaper Joong-ang Ilbo reported that Netflix confirmed her exit on September 1. The company said it respected the actress's position.
Ha-young played nurse Jang-mi Cheon in the first season and had been expected to return for the follow-up seasons. She has now confirmed her departure from season 2.
The controversy started after Ha-young discussed her family's four generations of medical professionals on a TV variety show. Her great-grandfather, Sang-ho Ahn (1872–1927), was subsequently identified as a collaborator with Japanese colonial authorities, drawing criticism online.
Ha-young first denied the allegations, then apologized after personally examining historical materials. She said her research had revealed her great-grandfather's actions and regretted discussing her family history without adequately understanding the period.
The controversy prompted growing calls for Ha-young to withdraw from several upcoming projects.
The eight-episode first season premiered worldwide in January 2025. It became a breakout hit, reaching No. 1 on Netflix's global non-English TV rankings and generating strong demand for a sequel.
The series adapts the web novel Trauma Center: Golden Hour by Han Sani, an ENT doctor.
The Trauma Center: Golden Hour webtoon is available in English on WEBTOON. Its English release recently concluded with an epilogue chapter on August 9.
