LOCUS Animation Studio adapts Gasfard's webtoon with 3D animation and pixel-art visuals.

LOCUS Animation Studio announced an October theatrical release across South Korea for Guardians of the Video Game. Gasfard's original webtoon ran from 2014 to 2021 and has reached 340 million views worldwide.
LOCUS Animation Studio announced on August 20 that its animated film Guardians of the Video Game will reach theaters across South Korea in October. The film adapts Gasfard's webtoon of the same name.
The studio also released a launch poster and trailer. The adaptation combines 3D animation with pixel-art visuals to recreate the webtoon's distinctive video-game worlds.
The film follows Patch, an ace agent who sets up worlds inside video games. Reassigned to the department handling classic games, he enters the 8-bit game “Legend of the Dragon Sword” to stop its shutdown.
The original webtoon places hidden protectors within the wires and pixels of players' favorite games. Patch, the Guardians of the Video Game Corporation's top guardi-agent, works to keep games running at any cost.
Office politics derail his promotion and land him in the obsolete Classic Games department. Despite the setback, Patch remains determined to carry out his duties as a guardian.
Gasfard's webtoon ran from 2014 to 2021. It has amassed 340 million views worldwide and holds an average rating of 9.98. Readers can find the official English edition on WEBTOON.
LOCUS Animation Studio, whose works include Red Shoes and The Priest, is producing the film.
