My Father's Table Adaptation Heads to South Korean Cinemas on September 9
Joon-ik Lee's first short-form project was re-edited as a feature after its July screening at Bucheon.
My Father's Table, based on Gorita's Father's Home Meal webtoon, opens in South Korean theaters on September 9. The adaptation will also be available on Lezhin Snack.
Director Joon-ik Lee's live-action adaptation My Father's Table will open in South Korean theaters on September 9. The project adapts Gorita's Father's Home Meal webtoon.
Originally made as a vertical short-form series, it features episodes lasting about two minutes each. After screening at the Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival in July, the series was re-edited into a feature-length theatrical version.
The film will also be available on Lezhin Snack. The platform's website currently offers a trailer for the series version with English subtitles.
The adaptation marks Joon-ik Lee's first short-form project. Its cast includes:
- Jin-young Jung as the father
- Jung-eun Lee as the mother
- Yo-han Byun as their son
- Ji-yeon Park
The story follows a family whose relationships change when the mother can no longer cook. The father steps into the kitchen for the first time.
Gorita's original webtoon explores family relationships and emotions across generations through food. It currently has no official English release.
Lehzin announced Lezhin Snack on January 19 as a dedicated short-video platform. Its lineup includes adaptations of established webtoon properties from Lezhin Comics and Bomtoon, plus original titles created specifically for short-form viewing.
Lezhin Entertainment said it combines its experience expanding webtoon properties with in-house video production expertise. The company aims to provide high-quality storytelling and direction within brief runtimes.
Kidari Studio supports production with its experience in film investment, distribution, and content production. The aim is to carry webtoons' narrative appeal into fast-paced, immersive short dramas.
