Shueisha’s synopsis introduces the Masters, who have refined lethal techniques for centuries. The Poison Masters, part of the Five Great Families, wield the most feared power and influence.
Hikaru Gero, heir to their Gero Family, has spent his whole life in the underworld, removed from romance and marriage. His family’s head orders Hikaru’s sister to produce an heir to continue the bloodline, using force if necessary.
Determined to protect her at any cost, Hikaru meets Mei Kinosaki, a gifted marriage swindler targeted in his latest assignment. He realizes marriage is his only solution to the succession issue and his sister’s predicament, then impulsively asks Mei to help him find a bride.
Mei remarks that nobody has ever proposed in such a way before. With the crafty swindler advising him, elite assassin Hikaru takes on his hardest assignment yet: finding a wife.
Their aim is the ultimate marriage. Shueisha frames the assassin-and-swindler partnership as the ultimate duo tackling the world’s toughest love mission, where winning love means playing with poison.
Jōmyaku and Yoda began the manga on Shonen Jump+ in April 2022. Shueisha released its 18th compiled volume on July 3. Viz Media licensed the series, which is also available in English through Shueisha’s MANGA Plus app.
