Danganronpa 2x2 Sets January 14 Launch With New Slayhem Story
The Switch 2 edition will use a game-key card, while the original adventure gains updated visuals and improved production values.

Spike Chunsoft announced a January 14 release for Danganronpa 2x2 across five platforms. The package pairs Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair with an alternate scenario featuring different victims and culprits.
Spike Chunsoft announced during Wednesday’s Nintendo Direct livestream that Danganronpa 2x2 will launch on January 14. Its new trailer previewed the alternate scenario and its Slayhem Mode.
The game, previously scheduled for 2026, will arrive on:
- Nintendo Switch 2
- Nintendo Switch
- PlayStation 5
- Xbox Series X|S
- PC via Steam
The Switch 2 edition will ship as a game-key card rather than a full game card.
Danganronpa 2x2 includes the original Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair and a new alternate story. A particular incident leads to different victims and culprits in the new scenario.
Called “Slayhem” mode, the alternate scenario runs about 35 hours, five hours longer than the original game, with 20% more content. Spike Chunsoft also described its content size as comparable to the original.
The included original game will receive refreshed visuals and improved production values.
The Danganronpa 2x2 Psycho Tropical Vacation Package contains:
- An RSVLTS Reversible Psycho Tropical Hat
- Kidrobot 3-inch Psycho Tropical Monokuma and Monomi Figures
- A soundtrack
- A clamshell-style outer box
Spike Chunsoft announced in November 2025 that Kinuta Ōshiro would take over as Monomi following voice actress Takako Sasuga’s death. Last October, it also named Wasabi Mizuta as Monokuma’s new voice following voice actress TARAKO’s death.
In the original game, students from the elite Hope’s Peak Academy visit Jabberwock Island with their exceptionally cute teacher for a school trip promising affection and excitement. Once a popular tourist destination, the island is now uninhabited but remains strangely pristine.
The classmates’ sunny getaway turns deadly when Monokuma returns and restarts his killing game. Trapped in a situation where they must kill one another, they can escape only by solving the island’s mysteries—even though discovering the truth can bring despair.
Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair first reached PlayStation Portable in Japan in July 2012. Its PlayStation Vita release followed in Japan in October 2013 and in the West in September 2014. Several ports have appeared since.
The Danganronpa Decadence collection shipped in North America and Europe in December 2021, with its physical release exclusive to Switch. It contains:
- Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc Anniversary Edition
- Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair
- Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony
- The bonus board game Danganronpa S: Ultimate Summer Camp
The collection debuted in Japan in November 2021 as Danganronpa Trilogy Pack + Happy Danganronpa S: Chōkōkōkyū no Nangoku Saikoro Kasshuku. Each game is also available individually as a digital Switch release.
The franchise also spans a manga series, three television anime series, an anime special, and an original video anime (OVA) project.
Danganronpa 2’s characters also appear as the stars of the 2016 anime Danganronpa 3: The End of Hope’s Peak High School: Despair Arc.
