Square Enix’s synopsis describes a world trapped in a devastating cosmic cycle called the Rise of Morastrum. Every 300 years, it kills everyone born that year except one survivor, the Child of Destiny.
Players choose one of eight heroes linked by fate. A little more than a dozen years after the latest disaster, the Four Sinistrals return. They seek to reopen the Abyss Gates and destroy the world.
During their mission to save the world, players decide which lands to explore, which stories to follow, and which Sinistrals to face first. Those choices make each playthrough a different adventure.
