Arc System Works announced Zohar The "Doppelganger" for Under Night In-Birth II Sys:Celes on PS5 and Steam September 15, followed by Switch September 23. A major update will also revise mechanics and add features.

Arc System Works announced Friday that Zohar The "Doppelganger" will join Under Night In-Birth II Sys:Celes as DLC on September 15 for PlayStation 5 and PC through Steam. Nintendo Switch players will receive the character on September 23.

Aiko Ōkubo voices Zohar. Arc System Works unveiled her trailer at Evo 2026 and announced a major update with the following changes:

  • Game balance adjustments.
  • Revisions to system mechanics, including "Steer Ender" and "Throw Escape."
  • A dedicated rating system.
  • Rankings for high-ranked players.
  • Improvements to the frame data display.
  • A Mission Mode feature for reviewing previous play.

According to Arc System Works' character description, Zohar led Bankikai alongside Ogre and Strix. During a battle against Amnesia, power spilling from the Abyss engulfed her. She lost her sanity and severely wounded Strix, her close friend.

Overwhelmed by what she had done, Zohar fell into despair before hearing rumors that Strix remained alive. After changing her name, she entered the Night to search for "her."

Thoughts of finding, apologizing to and killing Strix raced through Zohar's mind. She could not tell whether those conflicting urges belonged to her or her "other" self. The answer awaited her within the Night.

Under Night In-Birth II Sys:Celes is the latest entry in French Bread's original Under Night In-Birth 2D fighting series. Arc System Works released it for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and PC through Steam in January 2024.

Its character additions and season pass content include:

  • Uzuki, released in July 2024 as part of the season pass.
  • An early unlock code for Kuon, included with the season pass.
  • Ogre, added through the season pass in February 2025.
  • Izumi, voiced by Reina Kondo, added in August 2025.

The game concludes the "Hollow Night" storyline that started with the original series. Its launch roster included 21 returning fighters and three newcomers: Kaguya, Tsurugi and Kuon.

ucio performs its theme song, "Rinne no Owari e" (Toward the End of Reincarnation).

The series' distinctive GRD mechanic gives players another resource to contest alongside life and the super move gauge. Certain offensive and defensive exchanges increase or reduce GRD.

Every 16 seconds, whoever holds more GRD receives a damage boost and access to a cancel that converts their current GRD into super gauge. Players therefore frequently compete for a GRD advantage alongside a life advantage.

French Bread, also known for Melty Blood, developed the original Under Night In-Birth. It debuted in Japanese arcades in 2012 and never received a release outside arcades. The subsequent release history includes:

  • Under Night In-Birth Exe:Late arrived as an updated arcade game in 2013.
  • Arc System Works released its PS3 port in Japan in 2014.
  • Aksys Games brought that PS3 version to North America in February 2015.
  • Under Night In-Birth Exe:Late[st], the next version, reached Japanese arcades in July 2015.
  • Arc System Works released Exe:Late[st] for PS3 and PS4 in Japan in July 2017.
  • Aksys Games released Exe:Late[st] for PS4 and PS Vita in North America in February 2018. PQube Games released it in Europe on those platforms the same day.
  • Arc System Works brought Exe:Late[st] to PC through Steam in August 2018.
  • Its successor, Under Night In-Birth EXE:Late[cl-r], debuted on PS4 and Switch in February 2020, followed by PC through Steam in March 2020.

French Bread also developed Melty Blood: Type Lumina, a 2D fighter featuring characters from Type-Moon's remake visual novel Tsukihime -A piece of blue glass moon-. It launched on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC through Steam in September 2021.

A new version, Melty Blood: Twi-Lumina, will arrive in early 2027 for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One and PC through Steam.
