Expelled from Paradise Sequel Unveils New Video, Confirms Rie Kugimiya’s Return
The film opens in Japan on November 13, followed by an original-story game for Nintendo Switch and Steam on November 26.
Aniplex One Focus revealed a new video for the Expelled from Paradise sequel and confirmed Rie Kugimiya will return as Angela Balzac.
Saturday’s Aniplex One Focus livestream unveiled a new video and cast announcement for Rakuen Tsuihō -Expelled from Paradise- Kokoro no Resonance (Heart’s Resonance). Rie Kugimiya will reprise her role as Angela Balzac in the all-new, feature-length sequel to Expelled from Paradise.
The film opens in Japan on November 13. The franchise’s new game, Expelled from Paradise -The Stellar Angel- (Rakuen Tsuihō -The Stellar Angel-), follows on November 26. It features an original story and will launch on Nintendo Switch and PC through Steam.
The film was first announced as Rakuen Tsuihō: Liberated from Paradise. A later announcement used both Rakuen Tsuihō -Expelled from Paradise- Kokoro no Resonance and Rakuen Tsuihō: Kokoro no Resonance instead.

- Sally Amaki as Raguel
- Sumire Morohoshi as Penem
The sequel brings back the main staff from Expelled from Paradise. Toei Animation is producing the animation, with the returning team including:

- Composer: NARASAKI

Expelled from Paradise opened in 13 Japanese theaters in November 2014 and sold 110,000 tickets. Its Japanese Blu-ray Disc and DVD release sold more than 70,000 copies.
In May 2015, the film received the Best Animation of the Year Award at the 24th Japan Movie Critics Awards.
Aniplex of America brought the film to 15 theaters across the United States in December 2014. The company released it on Blu-ray Disc across North, Central, and South America in June 2015.
The film returned to Japanese theaters in 4K in November 2024 to mark its 10th anniversary. That release carried the title Expelled from Paradise -Impelled by 10th Anniversary-.
