Madoka Magica: Walpurgisnacht Rising Unveils Trailer, Ume Aoki Visual and New Cast Member

Saturday’s Aniplex One Focus livestream unveiled a new, spoiler-containing trailer and a visual by Ume Aoki for Puella Magi Madoka Magica The Movie: Walpurgisnacht: Rising (Gekijōban Mahō Shōjo Madoka Magica: Walpurgis no Kaiten).

Earlier that Saturday, the film’s staff announced Maaya Sakamoto as the unnamed upperclassman, also called Wasu. She resembles Homura, but her real name and identity remain unknown.

The film opened in theaters on August 28, with IMAX screenings beginning in Japan that same day. It is the official sequel to Puella Magi Madoka Magica The Movie Part 3: Rebellion.

It topped the box office in its opening weekend. Across its first three days, it sold 535,000 tickets and earned 939,647,100 yen, approximately US$5.95 million.

Shion Wakayama voices the new magical girl Shichōka, while Tomoyo Kurosawa plays Selma Therese.
