Lycoris Recoil Manga Has Two Chapters Left

The October issue of Kadokawa’s Comic Flapper magazine announced on September 4 that the Lycoris Recoil manga adaptation will end in two chapters. Yasunori Bizen draws the manga, with Spider Lily writing.

The pair launched the adaptation in Comic Flapper in September 2022. Kadokawa released its ninth collected volume on August 21, while Yen Press released the fifth English volume on June 23.

Yen Press publishes both the manga and light novels in English. Its synopsis describes a Japan where violent crime and terrorism have almost disappeared, thanks to seemingly ordinary schoolgirls who protect the peace.

The uniformed girls seen on street corners and in fashionable cafés may secretly work for Lycoris, carrying pistols in their purses and preparing for missions.

Asaura’s spinoff novel Lycoris Recoil: Ordinary Days surpassed 250,000 copies in circulation in 2022. It follows the less-than-ordinary everyday lives of Chisato, Takina, and their companions at Café LycoReco.

The Lycoris Recoil anime debuted in July 2022. Crunchyroll streamed it alongside its Japanese broadcast and also offered an English dub. The series aired on Adult Swim’s Toonami programming block in January 2024.

The television anime’s production team included:

• Shingo Adachi, making his directorial debut after serving as character designer and chief animation director on Sword Art Online and Wagnaria!! (Working!!).
• Imigimuru (This Art Club Has a Problem!), who designed the television anime.
• A-1 Pictures, which produced the project.
• Asaura, the Ben-To author, who drafted the story.
• Kimika Onai, whose work includes outfits for Nogizaka46 and Sakurazaka46, who designed the characters’ uniforms.

Lycoris Recoil: Friends are thieves of time., a collection of six Lycoris Recoil anime shorts, streamed on Aniplex’s YouTube channel and Crunchyroll in April 2025.
