Yuna Anisaki’s Manga Adaptation of Kazuki Karasawa’s Palace Fantasy Debuts September 18
Shogakukan’s Yawaraka Spirits will host the adaptation of a novel illustrated by Kasumi Nagi.

Yuna Anisaki will adapt Kazuki Karasawa’s The Black and White Duties of the Inner Palace’s Lady of Go into a manga launching September 18.
Shogakukan’s Yawaraka Spirits manga website announced last Friday that Yuna Anisaki will launch a new manga on September 18. It adapts Kazuki Karasawa’s novel The Black and White Duties of the Inner Palace’s Lady of Go (Kōkyū Gohi no Kuroshiro na Oshigoto).
The fantasy takes place in Ginran, where a girl named Kairin faces widespread scorn because of her unusual black and white hair. Even her parents mistreat her, keeping her mostly confined to a room, where she plays go alone to pass the time.
After running away, Kairin happens to meet Seiken, who turns out to be Ginran’s crown prince. They play go, and Seiken comes to regard her as a master. The two promise to stay together, but a palace conspiracy endangers his life and forces them apart.
Ten years later, Kairin sells herself into service at the imperial rear palace and discovers that Seiken is now emperor. He has held onto his memories of her throughout their separation.
Kairin conceals her identity to protect herself. Another chance meeting, however, gives Seiken an opportunity to watch her solve a difficult go puzzle.
Karasawa serialized the novel on Kadokawa’s Kakuyomu website from April 23 through June 14 earlier this year. Kadokawa published the print volume on June 15, featuring illustrations by Kasumi Nagi.
JManga previously published Momoshiro and Anisaki’s My Sadistic Boyfriend (S Kareshi Jyou-Jyou) manga digitally in English. Azuki, now called Omoi, also started releasing it in 2023, with distribution handled by Media Do International.
Cross Infinite World has released two of Karasawa’s light novels in English: Too Strong to Belong! Banished to Another World! (Saikyō Joshi, Isekai e Iku!) and The Weakest Manga Villainess Wants Her Freedom! (Maō-gun Shitennō no Saijaku Reijō wa Jiyū ni Ikitai!).
