Sumire Uesaka Withdraws From KyoMAF 2026 Following Threatening Emails

Kyoto International Manga Anime Fair (KyoMAF) 2026 staff announced Wednesday that Sumire Uesaka’s appearances at the two-day event were canceled at her agency’s request. The cancellation follows threatening emails targeting the voice actress.

Her agency, Voice Kit, announced Monday that Uesaka had received multiple extremely malicious emails, including threats to harm her. It said it takes the matter seriously.

Voice Kit has consulted the local police station, filed a complaint and requested an investigation. It said it will continue cooperating with police and relevant parties, and pursue strict action, including legal measures.

In a Tuesday update, the agency confirmed threats describing plans by multiple perpetrators to kidnap and murder Uesaka by September 27. It also reported indications that the alleged perpetrators know her current address.

Given the potential danger, Voice Kit has begun consulting event organizers and relevant parties about Uesaka’s appearances at events and performances scheduled through September 27.
