Clear River Games previews updated controls, display options, and combat adjustments for Quintet’s 1995 action RPG.

Clear River Games will release Terranigma on January 14, 2027, for Switch 2, Switch, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. A new trailer previews quality-of-life updates.
Clear River Games released a trailer Wednesday announcing that Quintet’s 1995 RPG Terranigma will return on January 14, 2027.
The publisher will release the game on:
- Nintendo Switch 2
- Nintendo Switch
- PlayStation 5
- PlayStation 4
- Xbox Series X|S
- PC through Steam and GOG
The trailer previews several quality-of-life features:
- An easier-to-read status window
- Updated controls
- Aspect ratio selection
- Rebalancing in arranged mode
- Adjusted difficulty
- Increased magic damage with Magicrocks
Clear River Games describes this as the action JRPG classic’s first return since 1995. Its description praises the game’s bold themes, striking character designs, excellent music, and fluid gameplay, while noting its previous lack of a modern rerelease.
The story takes place on a hollow Earth divided between the outer Lightside and inner Darkside. Ark, a mischievous resident of the Darkside village Crysta, knows nothing of the world beyond until he opens a forbidden door, triggering events that will change the world.
The publisher says Terranigma’s emotional story and transformative journey have held players’ attention for decades. The rerelease invites both newcomers and returning players to experience that journey.
Quintet originally released Terranigma for Japan’s Super Famicom in 1995. Nintendo published an English-language SNES version in Europe and Australia. A United States release was planned, but Enix’s American branch closed before it could happen.
