MMAJ 2026 Sets Shinkai Dubbing Contest and Music Guests in New Delhi

CoMix Wave Films’ Indian Instagram account announced Thursday that “Mela Mela! Anime Japan!!” (MMAJ) 2026 will feature a Makoto Shinkai Film Dubbing Competition.

The event runs October 3 and 4 at Pacific Mall Tagore Garden in New Delhi. The competition takes place on both days, and participants must apply online by September 23.

The event’s announced guests include:

• Singer Luna Haruna
• Singer/songwriter Daisuke Hasegawa
• Arranger/composer Matsuko Mawatari
• Voice actor Yuu Hayashi and his musical ensemble SCREEN mode

Japanese musicians Kanapon, ERIHIRO and Re: Like will also perform.

Last year’s MMAJ took place September 13 and 14 at the same New Delhi venue, with performances by Haruna and Hasegawa.

MMAJ 2024 also used that venue, running September 28 and 29. It screened seven anime films, including Suzume and Jujutsu Kaisen 0.

Haruna has contributed theme songs to anime including:

• Saekano: How to Raise a Boring Girlfriend
• Sword Art Online
• Fate/Zero

She also launched her wedding dress brand, Lunamaria, in 2016.

Hasegawa sang a theme song for JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Diamond Is Unbreakable. His Gundam: Reconguista in G credits include both a theme song and an insert song.

Mawatari’s theme and insert song work spans these titles and other entries in the franchise:

• The 2018 Yū Yū Hakusho OVA
• The Yū Yū Hakusho live-action show
• Yu Yu Hakusho: Ghost Files

SCREEN mode supplied the opening theme for Bungo Stray Dogs 2, the second television anime adaptation of Kafka Asagiri and Sango Harukawa’s Bungo Stray Dogs manga.

The ensemble also performed the opening for the original television anime Special Crime Investigation Unit Special 7 (Keishichō Tokumu-bu Tokushu Kyōaku-han Taisaku-Shitsu Dai-Nana-ka -Tokunana-). Its Japanese title literally means “Metropolitan Police Department Special Division Heinous Crime Investigation Unit Special 7: Tokunana.”
