The Cat and the Dragon Returns for Season 2 in 2027
Crunchyroll confirmed it will stream the new season of the anime based on Amara's novels.
The Cat and the Dragon announced a second season for 2027 as its first season ended on Saturday. Crunchyroll will stream the continuation.
The television anime The Cat and the Dragon (Neko to Ryū) announced a second season for 2027 when its first season concluded on Saturday. Crunchyroll later confirmed it will stream the new season.
Original novelist Amara and the anime's co-character designers, Chiaki Kurakazu and Rie Nishino, each created an illustration celebrating the announcement.

Yorushika singer suis performed the first season's opening song, “Nekohi” (Cat Day). Vocalist lia's band shallm performed its ending song, “Tadaima no Basho” (A Place to Call Home).
The first season debuted in Japan on d Anime Store and ABEMA on June 27 at 9:30 p.m. (8:30 a.m. EDT). Those streams preceded its television premiere and availability on other streaming services by one week.
Tokyo MX began broadcasting the anime on July 4 at 9:00 p.m. JST. It subsequently aired on these channels:

The story follows a fire-breathing dragon deep in a forest whose parents died before it was born. A mother cat happens upon the dragon and chooses to raise it.
Her family accepts the dragon as an unusual cat capable of flight and breathing fire. To repay his adoptive mother, the dragon stays in the forest to protect the other cats.
The cats affectionately know him as their uncle with wings. Humans call him the cat dragon.
Amara first posted the web novel on Shōsetsuka ni Narō in September 2013. Takarajimasha released the first hardcover light novel volume in April 2016, featuring illustrations by Mai Ōkuma.
The ninth light novel volume shipped in November 2025. Circulation has surpassed 1.4 million copies.
Izumi Sasaki began the manga adaptation on Kono Manga ga Sugoi! web in September 2017. It also started serialization on Manga Box in April 2020. Its 13th collected volume shipped on July 24.
