10 Things I Want to Do Before I Turn 40 Gets Film Adaptation for January 2027
The television cast will return, with Chihiro Ikeda directing and Yō Saitō writing the screenplay.
Mamita’s boys-love manga 10 Things I Want to Do Before I Turn 40 will receive a live-action film on January 22, 2027, featuring the TV adaptation’s returning cast.
The team behind the live-action TV adaptation of Mamita’s boys-love manga announced a film on Saturday. 10 Things I Want to Do Before I Turn 40 (40 Made ni Shitai 10 no Koto) will open on January 22, 2027.
The television cast will reprise their roles, including Kōhei Shōji as Keishi Tanaka and Shunsuke Kazama as Suzume Tōjō. Chihiro Ikeda returns to direct, with a screenplay by Yō Saitō.

The television adaptation’s staff included:
- Directors Chihiro Ikeda, whose credits include the live-action Senpai to Kanojo and Kowloon Generic Romance, and Noriaki Kosuge.
- Kosuge co-directed the live-action segment of Yo-kai Watch: Sora Tobu Kujira to Double Sekai no Daibōken da Nyan!
- Screenwriter Yō Saitō, whose credits include Aibō.
- Composer Erina Koyama, who worked on the live-action Kowloon Generic Romance.
Seven Seas Entertainment licensed the manga and released its first volume on May 6. Its synopsis follows Suzume Tōjō, who realizes three months before his 40th birthday that he still has many unfulfilled wishes.
He privately lists seemingly simple goals to complete before turning 40, including:
- Holding a takoyaki party.
- Having a parfait at a café.
- Spending his birthday with a lover.
That final wish poses a problem: Tōjō has gone ten years without a lover. When his handsome junior colleague Keishi Tanaka discovers the list, he decides to help fulfill every wish, beginning with finding Tōjō a lover.
Mamita began the manga in Libre Publishing’s Be x Boy magazine in 2022. Libre published its second and final volume on February 19, 2025.
