Yūna Hirasawa announced on her X/Twitter account Friday that Luca, the Dragon Vet (Ryūi no Luca), also called Lucíana, Dragon Veterinarian, will conclude with its eighth collected volume.
The manga began its final arc on August 30. Kodansha released volume seven on September 18.
Kodansha USA Publishing licensed the series and launched its print edition on July 28.
The story follows Luca, who grows up in a world where people ride dragons for travel, work, and war. She dreams of becoming a dragon veterinarian, but strict admissions requirements, extremely difficult classes, and her family's notorious name stand in her way.
Kodansha USA describes the series as a magical medical drama with adventure and intrigue from the creator of My Journey to Her. Its description recommends the manga to younger and older readers of Witch Hat Atelier and The Apothecary Diaries.
Hirasawa launched the manga in Kodansha's Morning two in September 2022, with Hoko Tsuda providing medical supervision.
Kodansha USA Publishing started releasing Hirasawa's My Journey to Her digitally in English in July 2024. A print edition is scheduled for October.
My Journey to Her debuted in Morning in March 2016 and was collected into one volume that June. It won Best Digital Comic at last year's Will Eisner Comic Industry Awards in July 2025.
