Akarui Mirai Manga to Finish on October 23
Norimitsu Kaihō writes the series, with art by Kurageso, for Houbunsha’s Manga Time Kirara Forward.
Akarui Mirai will conclude in Manga Time Kirara Forward’s next issue on October 23. The manga follows a socially awkward girl warned by a future AI that she will die alone unless she changes.
Houbunsha’s Manga Time Kirara Forward announced Thursday on X, formerly Twitter, that Akarui Mirai will end in the magazine’s next issue on October 23.
Writer Norimitsu Kaihō and artist Kurageso began the manga in the magazine in August 2025. Houbunsha released its second collected volume on July 10.
The story follows Mirai, a girl who struggles to socialize. A foul-mouthed AI from the future warns that she will die alone unless she changes. Mirai, however, has no clear idea how to make friends.
Kaihō’s earlier manga projects include:
- School-Live!, created with Sadoru Chiba, ran in Manga Time Kirara Forward from 2012 to November 2019. Its 12th and final collected volume came out in January 2020.
- Gakkō Gurashi!
Otayori, Kaihō and Chiba’s School-Live! sequel, ran in the same magazine from June 2020 to August 2021. - Deep Insanity: Nirvana, made with fellow writer Makoto Fukami and artist Etorouji Shiono, ran in Square Enix’s Big Gangan from January 2020 to March 2023. It belongs to Square Enix’s broader Deep Insanity franchise.
Kaihō also writes anime scripts, including the adaptation of his own School-Live! manga. His other anime writing credits include:
- Head writer for both Danganronpa 3 anime and their “Hope Arc” special.
- Co-writer with Makoto Fukami on the anime adaptation of Fukami’s Magical Girl Spec-Ops Asuka manga.
- Co-writer with director Tomohisa Taguchi on the original anime Akudama Drive.
- Writer of Guilty Gear Strive: Dual Rulers, his most recent anime credit.
