Ani-One Asia’s synopsis follows Fran, a young Black Cat girl mistreated as a slave without a name. She meets Teacher, an intelligent, sentient sword, and becomes its wielder. After joining the Adventurers’ Guild, she builds her reputation by completing quests.
Fran seeks to achieve “evolution,” and Master chooses a port town as their next destination to help fulfill her wish. Along the way, they discover a floating island and meet Jean Du Vix, a necromancer seeking to conquer it.
They accept Jean’s request and enter the island’s dungeon together. Inside, they face a deadly maze filled with undead magic beasts, beginning another adventure for the cat-eared girl and her overprotective sword.
The first season premiered in October 2022. Ani-One Asia’s YouTube channel began streaming it in February 2023. Netflix also added the anime that month, then removed it in February 2025.
