Captain Tsubasa: Rising Sun Finals will resume on October 6, with chapters arriving on Tuesdays. The manga paused after chapter 100 in May.

Yōichi Takahashi’s Captain Tsubasa franchise announced Monday through its official X account, formerly Twitter, that Captain Tsubasa: Rising Sun Finals will return October 6. New chapters will arrive on Tuesdays.

The manga went on hiatus after its 100th chapter in May. It debuted in storyboard form on the new Captain Tsubasa World website in July 2024.

Two concluding volumes shipped together in June 2024: Captain Tsubasa: Rising Sun volume 20 and Captain Tsubasa Memories 4: Saikyō! Meiwa FC Densetsu volume three.

Takahashi announced in 2024 that he would retire from serializing his long-running manga franchise. Captain Tsubasa Magazine ended with its 20th issue, released in April 2024.

That issue carried the concluding chapters of Captain Tsubasa: Rising Sun The Final and Captain Tsubasa Memories 4: Saikyō! Meiwa FC Densetsu.

Captain Tsubasa: Rising Sun follows Tsubasa as he seeks to compete in the Olympics representing Japan. Takahashi began the manga in Shueisha’s Grand Jump in December 2013.

The series transferred to Captain Tsubasa Magazine when that publication launched in April 2020. The magazine was a Grand Jump spinoff devoted to the franchise.

Captain Tsubasa: Rising Sun The Final debuted in the magazine’s 16th issue in April 2023 as the franchise’s “final saga.” It continued Rising Sun as a new arc under a changed title.

The original manga centers on 11-year-old Tsubasa Ōzora, whose love and talent for soccer earn recognition from his coach, Roberto. Tsubasa travels with Roberto to Brazil to train for the World Cup.

Takahashi’s original Captain Tsubasa ran for 37 volumes in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump from 1981 to 1988. Available in about 20 countries, it inspired:

  • Four television anime series
  • Four anime films
  • Several OVAs
  • A stage play
