Katsuwo has launched a manga adaptation of Renren Ii's Underdog Upsets the King novels, following an online shōgi expert's move into amateur tournaments.

Katsuwo launched a manga adaptation of Renren Ii's Underdog Upsets the King (Ōja no Ban Kuruwase: Net Shōgi no Teiō, Real Taikai de Chōjō o Mezasu) on Monday. The series debuted in the November issue of Kadokawa's Dengeki Daioh G, whose front cover will also feature the manga.

The story follows Mikado Watanabe, an introverted high school student with a second identity online: the “King of Self-Destruction.” His online shōgi skills are formidable enough to unnerve even professional players.

After several strange events, Mikado joins his school's shōgi club and enters the amateur Kōryūsen tournament. Alongside his clubmates, he begins climbing the ranks beyond the Internet.

Ii began serializing the original story on Kadokawa's Kakuyomu website in December 2023, and it remains ongoing. Fujiko illustrates the print edition, published by Kadokawa.

  • The first print volume came out on March 21.
  • The third volume shipped on August 24.
  • The fourth volume is scheduled to ship on November 20.

Katsuwo's #ImLookingForZombies (#Zombie Sagashitemasu) began in Kadokawa's Comic Dengeki DaiohG magazine in June 2022. Kadokawa released its third and final collected volume in January 2024, and Yen Press licensed the manga.

A television anime adaptation will premiere on October 3. Crunchyroll will stream it.

Katsuwo's Mitsuboshi Colors also received a television anime of the same name, which debuted in January 2018. Sentai Filmworks streamed the series during its Japanese broadcast.

Katsuwo began Hitori Bocchi's "" Life (Hitori Bocchi no Marumaru Seikatsu), also translated as Solitary "" Life, in Comic Dengeki DaiohG's inaugural issue in September 2013. The manga ended in April 2021, and Kadokawa published its eighth and final volume in June 2021.

Its television anime adaptation premiered in April 2019, with Crunchyroll streaming the series.
